RIP Bucks, the dog

Bucks's Bone. July 1, 2011. Dallas, Texas © Allison V. Smith

My heart is heavy and hurt and it's not easy to share that
yesterday Barry and I put down our sweet, sweet Bucks.
Bucks died peacefully at home surrounded by Daisy and his kitty friends.
We were all with him.

In his 14 years, he spent 11 with us.
We adopted Bucks in June 2000 from the now defunct city pound. He was 3.

Bucks touched so many people, even some he never met.

We will forever miss your wagging tail, contagious smile and heart of GOLD.
Thanks for all the love you shared.

I love you, Bucks, rest in peace.
Love Lives On.

That's a great picture, AVS. Sorry you had to do this. And as a friend said, sometimes it's no fun being an adult.

I'm tongue tied and can't adequately express my sympathies. I have been through a similar loss and know how devastating it can be. You two were so lucky to have loved each other, and my thoughts are with you as you go through this difficult time.

I'm so sad for you. Losing a pet is so incredibly hard. How wonderful though, that you have so many happy photos to remember your time with him!

My deepest sympathies Allison. Have been through this and know how tough it is. You could not have done more. Buck is immortal now -- I will always have an image of him in my mind as will so many others. Peace.
