1 Nonesuch Road

Billie and Stanley Marcus. 1 Nonesuch Road. 1938 photo by Laurence Miller

With the recent news that my grandparents home is now an official city landmark, I decided to post this lovely photograph of them standing in the front door of their new home on 1 Nonesuch Road in 1938. Speaking for the sentimental folks in the crowd, thank you Dallas.

Prison Civille de Port Au Prince, Haiti. January 2010. © Damon Winter

I can't stop thinking about this perfectly beautiful photograph by Damon Winter of prisoner's belongings hanging from the ceiling in the Prison Civille de Port Au Prince. This is the main prison in the city from which an estimated four thousand prisoners escaped after the earthquake. See more here. The story and images are haunting.

Wayne White

Wayne White, I Fell 37 Miles to Earth 100 Years Ago© Stephen Berkman

I am pretty excited about Wayne White's upcoming exhibition , I Fell 37 Miles to Earth 100 Years Ago, at Marty Walker's gallery. The invite photograph , seen above, by Stephen Berkman took my breath away . Have you seen this short film about White on the Oxford American site by new friend and photographer Dave Anderson? While you are at it check out Anderson's So Lost film Carmichael's Store. Makes me want to explore some more.

No seriously, this is my favorite photograph.
My photo teacher circa 1985, Joe Swayze, just emailed me this 30 year old photo of his.
Henry Darger-esque. Don't you think?
