Above is one of my last assignments of the decade and I could not be happier with layout . I hope the prominence of the article brings Malek all the help he needs.

Earlier this week I photographed Malek Hadi in his apartment in Arlington , Texas for the LA Times. Malek was working as a translator for the US Military in Iraq when he was terribly injured by a homemade bomb. The story is tragic and something "Every American should feel terrible about." A side note: the reporter, T. Christian Miller, and I worked as summer interns in 1993 at the LA Times. He now writes for ProPublica and I am so happy to be reconnected!

This made my day. Amy Cook posted a free download of her beautiful song, Hotel Lights, on her site. I can't wait for her upcoming album produced by Alejandro Escovedo. We shot the above photo at Hotel Saint Cecilia last summer. Thanks for sharing your talents Amy!

Tuesday night at Bar Celine was a great success. It's always an education revisiting Reflection of a Man , the photographs of Stanley Marcus (second from left) with my co-publisher & mom. I'm honored to be alongside Emily Shur, Susana Raab, Dalton Rooney, John Loomis, Kevin Miyazaki in the inaugural effort of collect.give, "A place to collect contemporary photography and donate to worthy causes at the same time."
