Steve McQueen in his Jaquar XKSS, 1963 ©Wlliam Claxton
Brilliant photographer William Claxton died Saturday. Above two of my all time favorites of his (and the covers of both books I have by him). I have long thought that photography could be compared to jazz. Claxton, who had more experience with both, agreed, "They're alike in their improvisation and their spontaneousness. They happen at the same moment that you're hearing something and you're seeing something, and you record it and it's frozen forever." Read more here. RIP William Claxton.
