Long time Dallas photographer, mentor and loyal friend to many, Andy Hanson died. Andy & I were pals. Pen-pals, photo-pals, straight-up pals. Last year Andy had a retrospective in the Hall of State at the Texas State Fair. It was the greatest honor to walk through the show together and hear his tales. Andy photographed them all: Lighting Hopkins playing guitar in his home in Houston , the Beatles first Dallas press conference, Andy Warhol at the DMA . Too cool. At over 6ft tall, Andy had a gentle presence. A trait that all his photographs carry as well. RIP Andy. Thanks for the friendship and sharing your beautiful eye!

Allison,

I'm so sorry to hear that Andy passed away. I frequent your journal and i've read through the backlog of your entries to catch up some time ago. After reading everything, i realized how much of a presence he was in your life and that sucks to hear that he's gone towards that big bright strobe light in the sky :/

Love you, love(d) Andy. Sigh. I know his presence will always be your pal as his spirit lives on . . .
